About Sara
Sara is originally from Ames, IA, and grew up a Cyclone fan. However, when it was time to choose a college, Sara decided to attend the University of Iowa (lucky for Ted) to earn a degree in Health Promotion. Currently, Sara lives in Des Moines and works at Holmes Murphy & Associates. At Holmes Murphy Sara works with Ted's lively and rambunctious cousin, Joe, who may or may not have set them up depending on who you ask.
About Ted
Ted is originally from Davenport and grew up as "Tier One" Hawkeye fan. Ted earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa and then went to Drake University for law school. While at the University of Iowa, Ted and Sara did not know each other but have since determined that the two of them had class together their Senior year. Ted currently works for the Governor of Iowa as a policy advisor.
How we met
The couple's initial meeting was at Wellman's Pub for a Happy Hour organized by Ted's cousin/ Sara's coworker, Joe. While Sara remembers the event, she doesn't specifically remember meeting Ted as he was disguised by a mustache he grew for his 2nd year law school finals for good luck! On this night, Ted tried to convince Sara to come to the next bar but she respectfully declined :)
The couple met on a few other occasions that spring and and at some point (still unknown to both of them) phone numbers were exchanged.
It was not until Ted left for a clerkship in DC that summer that a true connection began to form. The couple increasingly spent more time talking with each other throughout the course of the summer and by the time Ted came back to Des Moines both were ready to get to know each other better.
Ted's law school friends organized a "Welcome Back" party for him the night he returned at Champps Bar & Grill -- Ted invited Sara to join -- she did -- and they've been inseparable ever since!
